Shaheen says the amount she’s paying for the emeralds is “nothing.”
The SAVAK man with the neck scar pulls out a box of halvah and then starts smashing one of the halvah cakes with the butt of his pistol, before handing it to the other SAVAK men.
“I do not understand,” says Shaheen to Ed.
“Okay, uh, you give the money to me in cash,” says Ed, “Then, when I see Diana, we’ll tell you the location of the other three stones. It’s simple. “
“Too simple,” says Shaheen.
“Why?” asks Ed. “What is it? What’s wrong with our plan?”
“There has to be a catch – a- a trick,” replies Shaheen. “I do not trust your plan.”
“Well, I think it’s a very good plan,” says Ed, looking at his watch. “Come on, time’s running out. Escrow’s closing!”
“Did Jack Caper tell you that?” asks Shaheen.
“Yes, that’s right,” says Ed. “I’m Jack’s son.”
“His son?” exclaims Shaheen.
“Illegitimate, but someday, it’ll all be mine,” says Ed. “You and I might be doing business, going out to lunch…”
Shaheen looks at him dubiously.
“No, alright, okay, fine,” says Ed. “I’ll tell you the truth. Diana’s CIA, I’m on Her Majesty’s Secret Service, we’ve got the place surrounded.”
Shaheen glares at him. The phone rings.
“I’m really from Immigration,” says Ed. “We thought you might have some illegal aliens working around here.”
