Diana awakens to a hand over her face. Ed’s hand.
“You scared the s— out of me!” says Diana.
“It’s dark,” replies Ed, “I’ve been sitting here, watching you sleep for nine hours. Can we go now?”
“Oh boy,” says Diana, “I really conked out!”
“Yes, you did,” says Ed, standing up. He grabs the bars of the tunnel gate. “This thing’s locked.”
“No, it comes out,” says Diana.
“Well, maybe it did once,” replies Ed.
Diana shoves against the gate and it falls into the mansion’s garden.
“You must be stronger than you look!” says Ed.
Ed and Diana make their way along the side of a group of three swimming pools, then climb a flight of stairs to a fountain in the center of a piazza. Diana looks through her purse.
