Ed and Diana make their way through the dank tunnel.

“The only thing I can’t handle is snakes,” says Diana.

“At this point, a snake would be reassuring,” replies Ed.

They arrive at a fence at the edge of a garden.

“Now what?” asks Ed.

“Well,” says Diana, removing her red jacket, “the grounds are crawling with servants during the day. We wait here ’til dark.”

Ed looks at his watch. “You’re kidding!” says Ed, “It’s only noon!”

Diana wads up her jacket and puts it between her head and the cement wall. “Try to rest – – get some sleep,” she says.

“Sleep here?” asks Ed. “Diana – -“

“I’m going to try to grab a nap,” says Diana and falls fast asleep.

“Diana,” says Ed again, but she’s asleep.

Ed leans against the opposite wall. The scene fades.

The scene fades in again. It’s nighttime. Cricket sounds fill the air. Diana is still asleep. A hand reaches across her mouth. She yells, but it’s muffled by the hand.
