Diana climbs out of Melville’s limo, and crosses the Pacific Coast Highway towards a group of LAPD vehicles parked in front of Bud’s beach house. Monsieur Melville watches nervously from the limo.
Diana talks to Sheriff Peterson in front of 21942 Pacific Coast Highway.
Ed watches Melville looking out the window of the limo.
Inside Bud’s ransacked house, detectives are questioning Bud.
“Do you have any idea what they were looking for, Mister Herman?” says one detective.
“No!” shouts Bud.
“You never saw these guys before?” asks the other detective.
“I told you five times already: I don’t know who they were, I don’t know what they were after, okay? Jesus Christ!” says Bud.
“Sir, this woman says she came to pick up a coat from Mrs. Herman,” says the sheriff.
“We’re not married!” says Bud.
“Bud, what happened? Where’s Christie?” asks Diana, looking at the destruction.
“She’s not here, okay, Diane?” says Bud.
“You a friend of Mister Herman’s?” asks the first detective.
Diana spots the coat under the wrecked coffee table.
“What’s going on? I just came here to pick up my coat,” says Diana.
“What coat?” asks Bud.
“My, uh, my big down coat?” replies Diana, “I loaned it to Christie – – she told me to pick it up today.”
The second detective looks at Diana.
