After talking to Jack’s wife, Diana hangs up the phone. She wonders what the wife is doing at Jack’s house.
“His wife?” asks Ed. “She probably lives there.”
“Not for years,” replies Diana, “They barely speak. Bizarre.” She shakes her head. She hands the telephone to Ed. “Go ahead,” she says.
Ed picks up the receiver. Just then, the Kalijak assistant director walks into the office.
“I’m sorry,” says the assistant director, “you folks are going to have to leave, now.”“We’re friends of Bud Herman’s,” replies Diana, smiling.
“Mister Herman sent me over,” replies the assistant director. “He wants you to leave – – now.” The assistant director opens the office door wider.
“Fine,” says Diana. “We’re going.”
“What about my cab?” asks Ed. “I’ll take you to your car. Let’s just get out of here,” replies Diana.
On the backlot, Diana and Ed walk past the Miss Galaxy exterior set.
“Do you know where it is downtown, where they take the cars?” asks Ed.
“I’ve gotta get ahold of Hamid,” says Diana, not listening to Ed. “S–t,” she adds.
“Do you know where to go?” asks Ed again.
“No, I don’t know where to go. I don’t know what I’m doing,” says Diana, again failing to pay attention to Ed’s side of the conversation.
“We’re going to find my car,” says Ed, reminding her. “Please,” he adds.
“Would you help me, please? Just a little more?” asks Diana.
“No!” says Ed. “I’ve gotta go home. No more! I’ve got problems of my own to deal with!”
“How do you think I feel?” asks Diana. “You’re all I’ve got!”
