The SAVAK car pulls away from the driveway of 7045 Hawthorn. Ed drives off to Hollywood Blvd in the ’61 Cadillac convertible.
“You can come out now,” says Ed to Diana, who’s crouched under the front seat.
“Who were those men?” asks Ed.
“I don’t know who they are, exactly,” replies Diana.
“What does that mean?” says Ed.
“I was in Europe and I brought something back,” explains Diana. “that’s what they want. Somehow, they found out.”
“Drugs?” asks Ed.
“No,” says Diana, “I swear to God.”
Ed pulls up in front of Fredrick’s of Hollywood, where a bunch of late-night denizens are hanging out.
Ed pulls over and stops the car.
“I’m getting out,” says Ed. “This is just too strange for me.”
“No, listen to me,” says Diana. “I have something they want. It’s worth a great deal of money.”
They’re interrupted by a young prostitute.
“Do you want a date?” asks the prostitute.
“What?” says Ed.
“Do you want to party?” asks the prostitute.
“No!” says Diana, firmly. The prostitute leaves.
A well-dressed drug dealer shows up next to the car. “Hey man,” says the dealer, “do you want any ‘ludes? Coke? Hash? Acid? Grass?”
