“A recording studio?” asks Diana.<\/p>

Ed smiles. “I’m an aerospace engineer,” he says.\u00a0<\/p>

“Really?” says Diana, as Ed eats his ice cream.<\/p>

“Mm-hmm,” he replies.\u00a0<\/p>

“Well, that sounds fascinating!” says Diana.\u00a0<\/p>

“Does it really?” asks Ed.\u00a0<\/p>

Diana shrugs. “Yeah, sort of,” she says. “What were you doing at the airport?”<\/p>

“That’s kind of hard to explain,” says Ed.\u00a0<\/p>

“Try me,” says Diana.\u00a0<\/p>

“I can’t sleep,” says Ed.\u00a0<\/p>

“So you went to the airport,” says Diana.\u00a0<\/p>

“My life isn’t working out, somehow,” says Ed.\u00a0<\/p>

“So you went to the airport,” repeats Diana.\u00a0<\/p>

“My wife is unfaithful to me,” says Ed.\u00a0<\/p>

“Oh,” says Diana, nodding, “Your wife is having an affair.”<\/p>

“Makes it sound romantic,” says Ed. “<\/p>

“Maybe it is?” says Diana.\u00a0<\/p>

“Thank you,” says Ed. Diana smiles.<\/p>

There’s a loud crash. Diana and Ed look toward the noise, startled.<\/p>

“Sorry,” says Waitress Amy, standing over a pile of sugar dispensers that fell off her tray.\u00a0<\/p>
